In the late 1800’s Sam Dunkley founded Dunkley Company. Sam was a farmer who had many ideas on how to mechanically harvest and handle produce. Back then, the products were celery juice and an elixir (although the difference between two was little if any). Over the years equipment for many other products including cherries and blueberries were manufactured. Most prominent was the cherry pitter, which remained the backbone of the company for nearly 100 years and is still manufactured at our Kalamazoo facility today. Dunkley was also very well known for its high quality, and very diverse, conveyors and conveying systems.
Over the years, Dunkley has traded hands and has had owners like Libby McNeil, Nestles, and the current ownership Cherry Central. After Cherry Central purchased the company in 1984 its name was changed to Dunkley International to better reflect the broad markets it was now selling to. In 1985 Cypro Corporation, who manufactured vision based electronic sorting equipment, was purchased. With its new resources and its many years of quality manufacturing Dunkley was able to launch its vision equipment into the general manufacturing, fastener, and auto industries.
Today Dunkley International manufactures a wide variety of “one of a kind” vision systems as well as it standard vision systems which includes the fruit sorter, fastener sorter, and mixed parts sorter.
